  • Hershey’s cocoa - I suggest using a high-quality cocoa
  • Mini marshmallows (optional) - I used the white ones
  • Graham crackers (optional) - regular or chocolate work great

🧂Substitutions

  • Marshmallow fluff - you can also use marshmallow creme.
  • Cool Whip - use light Cool Whip for fewer calories.
  • Hershey’s cocoa - you can use any high-quality cocoa. You could also use hot cocoa mix like Swiss Miss.
  • Mini marshmallows - these are totally optional, and you can omit them if you wish.
  • Graham crackers - this is an option dipper. You could also use Vanilla Wafers, animal crackers or fresh fruit.

📖 Fun Variations

  • Mint Cocoa Dip - add a splash of peppermint extract or finely crushed candy cane bits to the mix.
  • Cheesecake Chocolatey Dip - Add in some cream cheese to make a thicker, cheesecake-style dip.
  • Dessert Charcuterie Board - spread this dip on a charcuterie board along with your favorite dippers to serve at parties.
  • Extra Toppings - add as many toppings as you like to this dip. You could try white chocolate chips, sprinkles, an extra sprinkle of cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, and more.

🥡 Storage

Hot cocoa dip tastes great at room temperature or chilled! You can store any leftover dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days.

If you want to make your dip ahead of time to prep for a party, you can make it a day in advance. Store it in the fridge and top it with your favorite toppings right before serving.

👩🏻‍🍳 Expert Tips

  • Garnish your dip with some crushed candy canes for festive color and a yummy minty flavor.
  • Add extra marshmallow bits to the top of this tasty treat for a fun garnish and extra flavor.
  • Serve your dip as part of a hot cocoa bar during the holiday season. You can also serve hot chocolate bombs or your favorite hot chocolate recipe with other fun chocolate treats.
